Judge Says Christian Prof’s Beliefs ‘Not Protected Under the First Amendment’
Feb 22, 2020
A Christian professor has lost his lawsuit against an Ohio university after he was reprimanded for refusing to address a biological male student who identifies as female with the proper pronouns....
Nicholas Meriwether, a philosophy professor at Shawnee State University believes God created only two genders, male and female, which are determined by a person’s biology. Roberta Milliken, acting dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, launched an investigation into the matter and formally charged Meriwether with causing “a hostile environment” in his classroom for refusing to violate his religious beliefs.

In todays world Christians are often faced by this issue of gender identity. Cultural currents run counter to the biblical teaching
Our kids are confronted in school or loved ones in the work place. More and more states are passing laws regarding identity. At some point we are all going to be faced with this issue. How then do we best deal with it in our daily life teach our children ?

Its been my experience that by setting a few foundation truths helps to begin the conversation with those around us

Gen 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
In God’s good design gender identity is determined by biological sex and not by one’s self-perception—a perception which is often influenced by fallen human nature in ways contrary to God’s design. Distinctions in masculine and feminine roles as ordained by God are part of the created order and should find expression in every human heart. It is a gift from God that Men and Women differ we each have different but equally important roles to fill.

As followers of Christ we can extend love and compassion to those whose sexual self-understanding is shaped by a distressing conflict between their biological sex and their gender identity as we do others afflicted with confusion of sin. The Fall of man into sin has caused a brokenness and futility in men we can not as mere mortals fix so we must find ways to live with it without being part of it.
